Polyjacking – Concrete Lifting and Leveling Method

What is Polyjacking?

Polyjacking is a method of lifting and leveling concrete that uses high-density geotechnical foam to lift and stabilize the concrete surface. A similar process with the same goal is the mud-jacking process, which uses mud instead of foam to lift the concrete surface to the desired level.

This article describes the main features and benefits of poly jacks in repairing concrete slabs.

Features and Applications of Polyjacking in Construction

Polyjacking is also known as polyurethane concrete lifting or polylift. A concrete slab is drilled and filled with high-density polyurethane foam to fill gaps and cracks.

When injected, the polyurethane foam expands up to 7 feet under each drilled hole. This extension makes it easier to lift the concrete slab while stabilizing the structure.

The foam used in the polyjacking process does not degrade over time unlike the dirt and mud used in the mudjacking process. Polyjack can be used for the various applications such as sidewalk, driveway, garage and basement, repair of office floors, sports arenas, warehouses, etc.

The holes drilled with the poly-jacking method are smaller than other concrete repair methods.
The polyurethane foam material used in the procedure is lightweight compared to mud jack mud. Therefore, they do not put pressure on the soil below.
This method results in fewer drilled holes for injecting the foam material.

Advantages of Polyjacks in Construction

The main advantages of Polyjack in construction are:

  • Polyjacking eliminates the need for costly replacement of concrete surfaces. Polyjacks are therefore cheap.
  • The curing process is faster and the surface is ready for use within hours.
  • This process maintains the compressive strength and structural integrity of the concrete surface.
  • Seals seams and cracks to prevent future lifting. Polyurethane is an eco-friendly material with 39-49% renewable and recycled content.
  • There is no scattering of concrete or mortar during the process, realizing a clean working environment.

Sum Up

Lifting concrete with polyurethane foam is cheaper, more efficient and a better investment than replacing a concrete slab entirely. It is low-cost concrete slab treatment.
