What are Concrete Piles?
Concrete piles are made of concrete. It can be plain concrete (PCC) or Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC). Concrete piles are deep foundation. A significant part of the concrete piles are in the ground.
The diameter of pile foundation is low. Length is always at least 5-10 times more than width. Concrete piles usually have a higher load-bearing capacity.
In older construction, Cast-in-situ concrete piles were used. But nowadays, precast concrete piles are more popular.
RCC piles have excellent compressive strength. RCC piles are used heavy construction projects.

1. Precast Concrete Piles
Precast concrete piles are manufactured in the foundry and professionally cured. The piles are then transported to the site where they will be installed.
They can be stretched to a length of 26 meter and have a capacity of up to 58 tons.
Rectangular piles are usually cast horizontally and circular piles are cast vertically.
Prefabricated piles can be reinforced or unreinforced.
2. Cast-in-situ Concrete Piles
A cast-in-place pile is formed by driving a closed-ended tubular section to form a cavity and then filling the cavity with concrete while the section is being pulled out.
Summing Up
Concrete piles are used where soil bearing capacity is low compared to design load of the building. Concrete piles are used to bear high load. Nowadays, precast concrete piles are used. Precast concrete piles saves lots of time.
