As per ASTM C11, Gypsum Board is the general name for a family of sheet products consisting essentially of gypsum. It is also known as drywall. Gypsum board is normally used for partition walls, column covering, cladding and ceiling, etc.
Gypsum is a delicate sulfate mineral made out of calcium sulfate dihydrate, with the synthetic formula CaSO4ยท2H2O.

Types Of Gypsum Board
There are three types of gypsum board are available in the market.
- Regular Gypsum Board
- Fire Resistant Gypsum Board
- Fire and Moisture Resitant Gypsum Board
You can identify types of gypsum boards with their colors.
The regular gypsum board color is slate grey.
The fire-resistant gypsum board color is pink.
Fire and moisture-resistant gypsum board color is green.
Gypsum Board Sizes
Standard Thickness: Standard Thickness is 12.5 mm but Boards can be produced in 8.0, 9.5, 12.5, 15.0, 16.0, 18.0 mm as per customer requirement.
Length: Length can be produced between 1800 mm to 4500 mm.
Width: width of 600, 900, 1219, and 1220 mm are produced as per customer requirement.
Uses of Gypsum Board
- It is used in the ceiling.
- It is used to construct a partition wall.
- Gypsum board used to cover columns.
- It is used for wall cladding.
- Gypsum board also used to construct wall devider.
