Introduction
Civil Engineers do lots of activities on-site and here are some of the certain works which are continuously repetitive in nature. So, here are some points, tricks, and tips which a site engineer should remember for quick solutions and faster calculations to problems of Construction on site.
Points To Remember For Civil Site Engineer
Following are some points to remember for civil site engineers to make the construction work easier.
- Maximum chair spacing is 1.00m or 1 number per 1 m2.
- For the diameter, more than 36mm lapping is not allowed for the bars.
- A minimum of 12mm diameter bars of chairs is to use on-site.
- For dowels steel of 12mm diameter should be used.
- Longitudinal reinforcement not more than 6% of gross C/S and not less than 0.8 percent of C/S.
- The minimum vertical bars for the Square column is 4no’s and 6no’s for the Circular Column.
- Main bars in the Slab shall not be less than 8mm(HYSD) or 10mm(plain Bars) and the distribution bars not less than 8mm and not more than 1/8 of the slab.
- Dimension Tolerance of a cube is +2mm.
- The minimum thickness of a slab is 125mm.
- The maximum freefall of concrete that is allowed is 1.50m
- Water absorption of bricks should not be more than 15 percent.
- Ph value of the water should not be less than 6
- Bricks Compressive Strength is 3.5N/mm2
- Binding wire in steel is required is 8kg per MT.
- 3 samples should be taken for the core cutting test for every 100m2.
Other Key Tips For Civil Site Engineer
1. Density of Materials:
Material | Density |
Bricks | 1600-1920 kg/m3 |
Concrete Blocks | 1920 kg/m3 |
Reinforced Concrete | 2310-2700 kg/m3 |
2. Curing Time of RCC members:
- Ordinary Portland Cement OPC: 10 days
- Super Sulphate Cement: 7 days
- Mineral and Admixtures added cement: 14 days.
3. Different RCC member and their shuttering time:
RCC member | De-shuttering time |
---|---|
For Walls, Columns, vertical formworks | 16-24 hrs |
Soffit formwork up to slabs | 3 days (props to be refixed after removal |
Soffit up to Beams props | 7 days (props to be refixed after removal |
Beams Spanning up to 4.5m | 14 days |
Arches spanning up to 6m | 14 days |
Beams Spanning over 4.5m | 14 day |
Arches Spanning over 6m | 21 days |
Roles And Responsibilities Of A Civil Site Engineer
A civil site engineer is a person who helps to build big things like buildings, roads, and bridges. They have many important jobs to do to make sure everything is done right. Here are some of their jobs:
1. Planning Of Site Work:
Civil site engineer make a plan of how the building or road will be built, like drawing a picture of it.
2. Checking:
Site engineer go to the place where the building or road will be built and check to make sure everything is okay and that it is safe to build there.
3. Leading:
They make sure that everyone who is helping to build the building or road is doing their job right and working together well.
4. Checking Quality Of Executed Work:
They make sure that all the things used to build the building or road are strong and safe, like checking that the walls are not too thin or that the ground is strong enough to hold the building.
4. Construction Site Safety:
They make sure that everyone who is working on the building or road is safe and not in danger, like making sure that they wear a helmet or a safety vest.
5. Writing things down:
They write down everything that happens while the building or road is being built, like how much money is being spent or how long it takes to build.
