In residential buildings, stairs must have a width of at least 0.9 meters, while in public buildings, the width should be between 1.5 meters to 2.5 meters.

The maximum number of steps in a flight should be limited to 12 to 14, while the minimum is 3.
(3) Rise:
The rise, or the vertical height of each step, should be uniform. Typically, in residential buildings, the rise is 150 mm to 175 mm, while in public buildings, it is 120 mm to 150 mm. However, in commercial buildings, the rise may be higher to consider the economic floor area.
(4) Tread:
