Tremix Concrete Flooring | Vaccum Dewatering Flooring (VDF)

Trimix concrete flooring is a very strong type of flooring that is usually found in places where heavy machines are used. This type of flooring can handle a lot of wear and tear without getting damaged.

Tremix Concrete Flooring Work

The reason why it’s mostly used in industrial settings is because it can support light weight cranes, carrier vehicles and machines with hard surfaces.

The concrete used for trimix flooring is a special type of mixture made from 1 part cement, 1.5 parts sand and 3 parts stone aggregates.

The thickness of the flooring determines how much reinforcement is needed. If the concrete is 100 to 200 millimeters thick over PCC (a type of concrete mixture), less reinforcement is needed. But if it’s 230 to 300 millimeters thick over a well-prepared stone base, more reinforcement is required to make it even stronger.

What Is Tremix Concrete Flooring?

Tremix Concrete Flooring or Vaccum Dewatering Flooring is a special type of flooring mostly being done in the industrial sector. In short, it is called as VDF.

People use Tremix Flooring where they need a rigid surface for machine foundation, light load carrier vehicle, and lightweight cranes. Depending upon the thickness of the flooring, the necessary reinforcement is provided in Tremix concrete flooring.

Basic Provision For Tremix Flooring:

Normally the mix concrete used for Tremix is 1:1.5:3 ( 1 cement, 1.5 sand, and 3 coarse aggregates).

The thickness of Tremix Flooring varies from 100 mm to 200 mm.

In industrial flooring, the PCC base should keep up to 100 mm and Tremix Floor kept 150 mm.

Tool And Materials Required For Tremix Concrete Flooring:

  1. Vacuum dewatering pump
  2. Floater machine
  3. Tremix skin
  4. Double beam screed vibrator

Procedure For Tremix Flooring:

Prepare the sub-base by watering and ramming, make sure there is no loose material left. Level the surface and lay 230 mm to 300 mm stone soling and it should be compacted properly.

Floor slope must be maintained in PCC work, which shall be laid above the stone soling. The thickness of the PCC shall be kept at 100 mm.

Trimix has to be done in the panel and each panel shall be of 3.5 meters and an appropriate steel bar shall be laid in layer two or one keeping the concrete cover of 50 mm.

Vacuum dewatering machines are very beneficial which removes excess water from the top layer of wet concrete without removing the cement of sand particles. This is done soon after concreting, ramming, and vibrating for fresh concrete.

It does not only increase the strength of concrete but also the abrasion resistance of the floor.

Shrinkage crack can be minimized by using this method.

Casting of concrete flooring in panels to avoid shrinkage cracks and works as expansion joints. It is a time-consuming process when a large area is covered.

Tips For Maintaining Tremix Concrete Flooring

  1. Clean the floor regularly by sweeping or vacuuming to remove dirt and debris.
  2. Quickly wipe up any spills to prevent staining, and use a mild detergent or specialized concrete cleaner for periodic cleaning.
  3. Protect the surface of the flooring by sealing it with a good quality protective coating.
  4. Avoid placing heavy loads or dropping heavy objects on the floor, as this can cause damage or cracks.
  5. Repair any damage as soon as possible, using a crack repair kit for small cracks and seeking professional assistance for larger repairs.
  6. Consider hiring professional cleaners periodically to deep clean the floor, repair any damage, and reseal the surface as needed.

Advantages Of Tremix Flooring:

  1. Vacuum Dewatering Floor higher Compressive Strengths compare to conventional PCC floor.
  2. Tremix Flooring provides Faster Initial Strength.
  3. Tremix Reduced Shrinkage crack.
  4. Decrease Permeability.
  5. Enhance Abrasion Resistant of Floor.

Applications

  1. Builders install Tremix concrete flooring in warehouses for its strength, durability, and resistance to wear and tear.
  2. Parking lot owners prefer Tremix concrete flooring due to its resistance to oil and grease stains and slip-resistant surface.
  3. Airport authorities choose Tremix concrete flooring because it can withstand heavy foot traffic, making it safe for passengers.
  4. Commercial building owners opt for Tremix concrete flooring due to its low maintenance requirements and durability.
  5. Sports facility managers select Tremix concrete flooring for its excellent abrasion resistance and slip resistance properties.
  6. Food processing plant managers install Tremix concrete flooring for its resistance to bacteria growth and easy-to-clean surface.
