Symptoms Of Bad CV Axle

Today we are going to discuss about symptoms of bad CV Axle.

Here are all the symptoms of bad car CV axle.

1. Vibrations While Driving:

Vibrations during driving the car is the major symptom of bad CV axle. Increased speed increases the chances that you will lose control of the car, putting you, your passengers and other road users at risk.

If the CV joint isn’t fixed or replaced fast enough, you also run the risk of it breaking while you drive, which is obviously a potentially dangerous scenario.

2. Clunking Noises:

If you hear a clunking noise when you accelerate or turn, it could be the CV axle. A damaged CV axle usually produces a loud and unmistakable clicking sound when you turn the vehicle; This sound is likely to get louder as you start moving. You won’t soon forget the sound, which can sometimes sound like a loud click or pop. Once you have determined the symptoms, you need to get your car serviced.

3. Grinding Noises:

Grinding noises from your car also a symptom of a worn-out CV axle.

A worn CV is known to produce a characteristic knocking noise when driving. The interior or exterior joints of a front-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive vehicle, respectively, are where the noise originates. The differential gears may also be making noise.

To determine if the banging noise is coming from a bad CV joint, put your car in reverse and drive it in a rocking motion from accelerating to decelerating. If you notice an increase in the amount of noise while you drive, your CV joint may not be working properly.

4. Clicking Noises:

A damaged CV axle usually produces a loud and unmistakable clicking sound when you turn the vehicle; This sound is likely to get louder as you start moving.

Put the car in reverse, turn the wheel to one side, and then press the accelerator to test it. The pooping or knocking sound will get louder as you walk backwards in a circle. This is a strong sign that your CV joint is damaged.

Once you have determined the symptoms, you need to get your car serviced. You may also need to replace the entire shaft assembly in addition to the CV joint, depending on how badly the joint is damaged.

5. Difficulty In Turning The Vehicle

If you face difficulty while turning the vehicle, it might be due to bad CV axle. If the CV axle is damaged or worn out, it may become difficult to turn the steering wheel, as the wheels may not be able to turn as freely as they should.

Conclusion

These were the major symptoms of bad CV axle. There are some other minor symptoms such as fluid leakage, burning smell, tire wear and car is not able to move.

If you experience these symptoms, you should immediately go to mechanic for repairing. If CV axle is completely damaged then it should be replaced by new CV axle.
