Compressive Strength Of Dry Lean Concrete
To ensure the quality of dry lean concrete (DLC) mixtures, it is essential that the average compressive strength of the mixture remains above 10 MPa within a 7-day period. The primary parameter used to determine the acceptability of DLC mixes is the compressive strength of the cubes after 7 days. Consequently, we conducted tests on standard cubes made from DLC mixtures to assess their strength development at the end of the 7-day period.

The composition of the dry lean concrete mix exhibits fundamental differences when compared to traditional concrete mixes. Unlike conventional concrete mixtures, the primary factor in designing the dry lean concrete mixture is not the water/cement ratio, but rather the optimum moisture content (OMC) necessary to ensure complete compaction of the concrete during lamination.
It is crucial to avoid excessive moisture in the mixture, as it can cause the material to adhere to the roll drums, leading to complications. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to determine the ideal moisture content that enables proper compaction and establish the appropriate mixing ratios, particularly the aggregate/cement ratio, to achieve the desired compaction level and compressive strength of the concrete.
Optimal Moisture Content Of Dry Lean Concrete
The perfect wetness of dry lean concrete (DLC) means the amount of water that makes the mix the strongest and easiest to work with. DLC is a special kind of concrete that doesn’t have a lot of cement in it, usually between 50 and 150 kilograms for every cubic meter, and it has more rocks and sand compared to normal concrete.
